Three charged with a crime in vandalism arrests

Louisiana authorities have made several arrests in connection with an alleged act of vandalism. The incident took place in Ouachita Parish on a logging site of over 600 acres. An extensive volume of damage was reported to police, which led to an offer of $3,000 for any information leading to an arrest in the case. That offer brought in tips that led police to three individuals, who were recently charged with a crime in connection to the incident.

According to reports, the individuals responsible for the act of vandalism broke a windshield and several gauges on a logging truck and also poured dirt into the engine block and fuel tank. They also cut the hydraulic hoses on a commercial loader, poured hydraulic oil and gasoline onto the ground and threw tools across the site. Electrical connections to at least two pieces of equipment were also cut or shorted. In addition to this damage, two items were stolen from the worksite.

Police arrested three individuals in connection to the incident, a 22-year-old man, a 21-year-old woman and a 13-year old child. All three were charged with causing damage to property valued at more than $50,000, which is a federal felony. The adults were booked into jail, while the child was sent to a juvenile detention facility.

There is no detail given on the type of evidence used to link these three individuals with the crime of which they stand accused. However, in cases in which a sizeable reward is offered in exchange for information leading to an arrest, many people in Louisiana will go to great lengths to collect that reward. Some of the individuals who are charged with a crime in such circumstances are not prosecuted, while others are found not guilty. In this case, the two adults and one child who are accused of vandalism will have to mount a strong criminal defense in order to avoid a negative outcome.
