Whenever a Louisiana resident faces a criminal charge, the first concern of the accused person will likely be the defense options. An arrest does not mean the accused person is guilty, and he or she will remain innocent until — and if — the prosecution can prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. One person that is likely seeking experienced legal counsel to handle his criminal defense is a 55-year-old Ball man who is facing a long list of charges.
Reportedly, investigators sought the man after a property owner accused the man — who was a former tenant — of breaking into one of his properties and stealing a refrigerator. Authorities obtained warrants for his arrest, but before they could take him into custody, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries arrested the suspect on unrelated matters. After allegedly fighting with the arresting officer, the man was booked into a detention center.
The charges related to the stolen refrigerator include simple burglary and criminal damage. However, the unrelated charges include illegal taking and possession of game, theft and criminal trespass. Further charges include contempt, theft exceeding the amount of $500, house arrest escape and resisting a law officer. Added to those are possession of a firearm by a felon, drug paraphernalia possession and simple burglary.
Anybody facing such a list of charges will likely seek the services of an experienced criminal defense attorney. A seasoned lawyer will examine all the charges and the evidence held by the prosecution before devising a defense strategy. With such a list of charges, a skilled attorney will work hard to achieve the best possible outcome under the circumstances.
