Louisiana man suspected of Internet crimes with a minor

A Louisiana man who police believe to have committed Internet solicitation of a minor has recently been arrested and charged with multiple crimes related to this accusation. Louisiana police has supposedly been investigating Internet crimes in this state, which lead them to arrest the suspected man. If — and only if — convicted, the man could face a large amount of jail time.

According to the report, Louisiana police arrested the 45-year-old man because of an ongoing investigation. Homeland Security investigations, the New Orleans Police Department and the Slidell Police Department all worked together to investigate internet crimes in this state, which lead them to believe that this man is a suspect. Although, the report does not state why the man is suspected.

The man has been charged with two counts of Internet solicitation of a minor and two counts of indecent behavior with a minor. For each count of Internet solicitation of a minor, the man faces ten years in prison; and for each count of indecent behavior with a minor, the man faces seven years, totaling a potential maximum sentence of 34 years if convicted. However, the report does not state what the man is actually accused of doing, nor does the report reveal what led police to believe him to have done.

If the police record is truly as limited as it appears to be, it may be difficult for Louisiana prosecutors to prove the man’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. HIs defense may benefit from a careful study of the arrest record in order to determine if sufficient evidence has been found against the man. If sufficient evidence to prove his internet crimes accusations beyond a reasonable doubt is not provided, his case could be thrown out of court entirely.
