Social media has changed the way that people communicate and live their lives. It allows people to stay in touch with one another or even meet new people. Unfortunately, police believe that a Louisiana man used social media to solicit pornographic images from minors. He is likely focused on his criminal defense following his arrest.

Detectives with the Louisiana State Police as well as the Office of Homeland Security reportedly received a complaint about someone who was soliciting minors with the use of a computer in January. Investigators claim that they discovered a 28-year-old man who has since been arrested. They have accused the man of creating of fake social media profile that claimed he was an adult woman and using that profile to convince juveniles to share pornographic videos with him.

Investigators conducted a search of the man’s home. The suspect allegedly confessed to encouraging minors to send him explicit images. He was arrested and now faces multiple charges, including contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and possession and production of pornography involving juveniles, among others. Officials say that the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are expected to be filed.

Because of the nature of the charges against the man, people in Louisiana may be quick to assume his guilt. Unfortunately, when a person is being interrogated by police, they may not be fully aware of their rights. A criminal defense attorney can help those accused or suspected of a crime from the early stages, including during initial questioning. Having such a person by their side can help suspects fully understand the impact of the answers they give to investigators.
