Louisiana man charged after forcing pharmacist to fill prescription

There are often at least two sides to every story. Sometimes media accounts of an incident can be accurate, and other times they may be unintentionally misleading. It is not always clear when a person is charged with a crime if the accounts that are published are exactly what happened. What is for sure is that no person who is accused of a crime is guilty unless they are convicted in a court of law.

A Louisiana man has been charged with a crime after he allegedly jumped a counter at a pharmacy and threatened to beat the pharmacist on staff with brass knuckles if he did not fill a prescription. Police claim that the prescription was expired when the now-accused man presented it to the pharmacist. It was, however, filled after the alleged threat was made. The man was said to have then left the pharmacy but later turned himself in to authorities voluntarily.

He has been charged with a crime relating to the incident as well as additional charges that include four municipal traffic attachments. He was placed in a Gretna jail, and a $153,000 bond was imposed. He will likely soon appear in court to formally answer the charges lodged against him.

Like all of those who have been charged with a crime, the man in this case is innocent until he is proven guilty. Before any conviction could possibly occur, he will be able to present a defense against the charges. If, indeed, there is another side to this story, the man will have the opportunity to both challenge any physical evidence offered against him as well as to confront any witnesses who offer testimony in support of the prosecution’s case.
