Louisiana man accused of sex crimes involving child pornography

Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies in coordination with the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office Task Force Unit recently apprehended a man on child pornography charges. The 24-year-old accused man is accused downloading, sharing and searching for child pornography on the Internet. Not only that, but the man is already registered as a sex crimes offender.

When officers questioned the man, he allegedly admitted to viewing the material in question. Police also claim that he admitted to downloading pornographic images involving children. Purportedly, however, the man said he threw away and destroyed any hard drives that contained the files.

Authorities charged the man with two separate counts of attempted child pornography sex crimes. He was booked at the detention center in Lafourche Parish. Later, he was released after posting bond of $100,000.

These are not the first sex crimes offenses that this Louisiana man has faced; he was convicted of child pornography n 2012. Considering that he has a prior sex crimes conviction on his record, this man will likely be facing steeper challenges while defending himself against the latest allegations. If police claims are true, and they did indeed garner a confession from the man that he had been viewing and downloading pornographic images, this alleged confession will also need to be addressed during his defense. Sometimes, confessions are taken under duress and/or the accused is coerced into a confession in a fashion that is not in accordance with the law. In such instances, the confession may be inadmissible as evidence in court, which may significantly help the accused during the litigation of his or her case.
