Authorities in Lake Charles have arrested two people in connection to a meth lab. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that the arrests were made following officers being dispatched to a residence where a suspicious odor was detected. The two individuals in the home, purportedly the residents, were taken into custody and have since been charged with serious drug charges.

The two people arrested were a 48-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman. Officers reportedly obtained a search warrant for the residence, and upon investigating they found an active meth lab inside. In addition, methamphetamine drugs and paraphernalia were also reportedly present. Following the discovery, a Haz-Mat team disassembled the lab and cleaned up the residence.

Both individuals have been charged with operating or creating a clandestine lab, possession of CDS II and drug paraphernalia. Both were booked at Calcasieu Correctional Center, and bond for each was set at $10,000. If convicted of the charges against them, these two Lake Charles residents may face steep consequences for their involvement in the production of meth.

Being convicted of drug charges can have serious consequences for these two individuals. Although the road ahead may seem quite challenging, they still retain the right to challenge the accusations against them. Doing so may include a thorough examination of all aspects of the arrest, and any evidence collected. Like all in our state, these two individuals are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven otherwise, which will allow them the opportunity to defend themselves and fight for the best possible outcome.
