Inclement weather, a car accident and a drunk driving arrest

The recent inclement weather in Louisiana gave rise to multiple car accidents. The heavy amount of rain and water on the roadways can create flooding and hazardous driving conditions. Police officers had been apprised of a wreck and found an SUV in a ditch when they arrived at the site of the accident. The vehicle was resting on its side. The driver, who did not appear to have suffered any serious injuries, reportedly told the officers that he had been drinking. Officers then conducted a pat-down search of the man.

In the process of searching the man, the officers reportedly found bags of white powder in the man’s pockets. According to the police report filed by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, the bags contained cocaine. As a result, the driver is facing charges of DWI and drug possession. In addition, he was charged with driving on a suspended license.
