Five arrested on drug charges following high speed chase

The drug problem continues to be an issue in Louisiana. Drug charges were brought against five people in St. Tammany Parrish recently. The arrests followed a high speed chase that began when officers showed up at a house to execute a search warrant near Abbita Springs. Upon seeing the officers, a person at the residence reportedly got into a car and took off at a high rate of speed.

The driver entered I-12 and proceeded to weave in and out of traffic. The police attempted to pull him over but were unable to do so. The officers eventually deployed spike strips across the roadway to force the man to stop. After being apprehended, the driver was charged with multiple moving violations and possession of suboxone and drug paraphernalia.

The police returned to the residence to execute the search warrant. The warrant had been issued following a lengthy surveillance. Four people, which included three men and a woman, found in the house were arrested. They face various charges, including drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal weapons possession.
