2 women face drug charges after police chase

An attempted traffic stop in Louisiana ended with two women receiving several drug charges. The incident began when police officers allegedly spotted a vehicle that was being driven recklessly around Galliano. When the officers attempted to stop the car at around 7 p.m., the driver allegedly led them on a chase.

The officers say that as they were following the vehicle, the 36-year-old driver and her 52-year-old female passenger were seen tossing something out of the windows. Police accuse the women of trying to dispose of Suboxone, heroin, crack cocaine and methamphetamine. When the vehicle was finally stopped, officers conducted a search and allegedly found drug paraphernalia, crack cocaine and more than $2,000 in cash. Both of the women were taken into custody and handed various drug charges.

The accused women were both held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. They were each booked on charges for possession of crack cocaine, Suboxone, heroin and methamphetamine with intent to distribute along with one felony count for obstruction of justice. Because she was driving at the time of the incident, the 36-year-old woman received additional counts for reckless operation and a traffic violation.
