Drug charges follow after alleged undercover investigation

There are times when one can be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Regardless if the individual is not involved in illegal activity, often he or she can be assumed guilty just by association. Recently, six people were arrested in Louisiana after what authorities say was a month-long undercover narcotics investigation. At least two of the six arrested are now facing drug charges.

Allegedly, there had been complaints about a home involved in potential drug activity. Undercover law enforcement began an investigation into the allegations. Over a period of time, purportedly undercover police bought what appeared to be heroin, methamphetamine and crack cocaine from the home under surveillance.

Once the investigation reached a certain point, police obtained a search warrant and searched the house. Reportedly, several of the detained ran on foot to evade police. After the search, detectives allegedly found more drugs in the home. All of the people that were in the home at the time of the search were arrested and charged with various crimes.

Facing drug charges can be frightening, especially if the accused is assumed to be involved in illegal activity simply due to an association. However, the individual charged is presumed innocent until — and only if — proven guilty. The charges must be proved in court and beyond a reasonable doubt before any conviction is possible.
